About The Position

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree and experience in education, management, or business.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, classroom teachers, business and industry partners, and the general public.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment while independently planning, organizing, and developing statewide educational programs and services.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex program information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Ability to travel within the state, including occasional overnight stays, and attend assigned conferences.
• May be required to occasionally lift and transport materials, supplies, or equipment associated with workshops, conferences, and student organization events.

Nice To Haves

• A master's degree and four years of experience, or a bachelor's degree and five years of experience, in construction, transportation, or logistics education or a related industry.
• Extensive knowledge of instructional research methods and techniques, modern educational trends and developments, and foundational principles and theories of education.
• Considerable knowledge of South Carolina's educational system, including laws, rules, and regulations governing career and technology education, Perkins V, and the Education and Economic Development Act (EEDA).
• Knowledge of construction, supply chain, logistics, and transportation industry practices; related industry-recognized credentials; and SkillsUSA and related skills competitions.
• Recognized industry certifications in one or more of the relevant content areas.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the state-level specialist and primary point of contact for the Construction and Supply Chain & Transportation career clusters, promoting program quality, alignment, and continuous improvement across participating districts.
• Plan and support the development, review, and evaluation of course standards, performance-based curriculum, course assessments, and instructional resources for construction, supply chain, logistics, and transportation programs.
• Monitor statewide implementation of programs of study, including modernized career pathways, for alignment with state and federal requirements and Perkins V expectations.
• Develop implementation and improvement plans and provide technical assistance to help districts meet state, federal, and agency policies, laws, and regulations.
• Plan, organize, and deliver professional learning for teachers, district personnel, business and industry partners, and other stakeholders.
• Review local district applications for career and technology education programs and recommend approval; support on-site and desk review monitoring for accountability and compliance.
• Evaluate innovative program applications, recommend approval, or provide guidance to help programs meet approval requirements.
• Provide curriculum and programmatic support for Career and Technical Student Organizations aligned to assigned clusters and share SCDE updates at regional, state, and national meetings as needed.
• Collaborate with business, industry, and postsecondary partners to align programs with workforce needs, industry-recognized credentials, and work-based learning opportunities.
• Provide training and ongoing support for teachers entering the classroom through alternative certification methods, including professionals transitioning from industry.
• Contribute to cross-divisional teams administering career and technology education programs, developing accountability documentation for legislative mandates, and advancing initiatives to improve student outcomes.
• Support the Office of Career Readiness and the Division of College, Career, and Military Readiness as needed.
