About The Position

Responsible for purchasing highly complex or unusual, technical or high dollar value materials, supplies or services. Evaluates bids, selects and recommends suppliers and negotiates price, quality and service. Follows up on all awards until completion of order. Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over shipments, cancellations and engineering change orders. Oversees and/or conducts supplier site visits as necessary. May provide work leadership for lower level employees. Excludes those with full supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of procurement contracting methodologies used to acquire services of all types, including IT.
  • Experience procuring IT hardware, software and/or services.
  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; OR Master's Degree and 8 years of relevant professional experience.
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree.
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree.
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree.
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree.
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree.
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess a working knowledge of various contracting methods and able to apply them appropriately (Firm Fixed Price, Cost type, Incentive Fee, Award Fee, T&M, LH).
