About The Position

Requirements

• Knowledge of procurement contracting methodologies used to acquire services of all types, including IT.
• Experience procuring IT hardware, software and/or services.
• Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; OR Master's Degree and 8 years of relevant professional experience.
• NNS Apprentice School graduate may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree.
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree.
• Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree.
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree.
• High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree.
• High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree.

Nice To Haves

• Possess a working knowledge of various contracting methods and able to apply them appropriately (Firm Fixed Price, Cost type, Incentive Fee, Award Fee, T&M, LH).

Responsibilities

• Purchasing highly complex or unusual, technical or high dollar value materials, supplies or services.
• Evaluating bids, selecting and recommending suppliers.
• Negotiating price, quality and service with suppliers.
• Following up on all awards until completion of order.
• Negotiating and settling with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over shipments, cancellations and engineering change orders.
• Overseeing and/or conducting supplier site visits as necessary.
• Providing work leadership for lower level employees (excluding those with full supervisory responsibilities).
