About The Position

As a Shipping Team Manager at Avery Dennison, you will lead efforts to ensure customer satisfaction while achieving business objectives regarding Safety, Employee Engagement, Quality, Productivity, Process Improvement and Cost-effectiveness within your assigned shift and department. This position is for 3rd Shift, 10p-6a, Sunday Night - Friday Morning. This is an on-site position located in Greenfield, IN.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and a minimum of 3 years leadership, process improvement and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, support, and develop a diverse team of talent while promoting Avery Dennison Values of Integrity, Courage, External Focus, Diversity, Sustainability, Innovation, Teamwork, and Excellence.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations systems (best practices), processes, and technology, with familiarization with ELS (Continuous Improvement) principles and lean sigma tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, effectively problem-solve issues, implement solutions to prevent recurring problems, and achieve operational results through delegation and teamwork.
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, active listening), professional behavior, effective time management and project management skills, and the ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements of this position.
  • Familiarization with ELS (Continuous Improvement) principles and knowledge of lean sigma tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety as the most important value in the organization by actively enforcing all Environmental, Health and Safety policies/procedures, ensuring participation of team members in required safety training, and leading/participating in investigations and implementation of corrective action plans for all safety incidents.
  • Provide leadership for the shift by creating a motivating environment for team members to meet and exceed facility goals for safety, service, quality, productivity, cost, and inventory control targets, while recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance.
  • Initiate, implement, and support effective operational improvements to promote safety, increase employee engagement, improve quality, minimize scrap, and increase shift productivity.
  • Ensure execution of standard operating procedures, standard work, quality standards, cycle counts, and safety/housekeeping audits, while engaging in technical problem solving, troubleshooting, and projects focused on optimizing manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Oversee daily activities of team members including coaching, counseling, performance reviews, and meaningful feedback, while collaborating with support teams and leading, facilitating, or participating in Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) continuous improvement activities and Kaizen events.
