About The Position

Requirements

• Graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia Program accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia (COA) or its predecessor.
• Current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing, or a valid Compact RN license.
• Current license or temporary authorization as an APRN with authorization to practice as a CRNA from the Texas Board of Nursing; interim approval must not exceed 120 days from issuance.
• Current healthcare provider CPR certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Systems (ACLS) certification.
• Valid national CRNA certification from the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
• Meet and maintain licensing and registration requirements established by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and applicable Credentialing Policies/Procedures.
• Provide care in accordance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plans of care, and clinical-area standards.
• Demonstrate sound decision-making in anesthetic patient care, ethical practice, and respect for patients' rights.
• Demonstrate good organizational skills and effective written and verbal communication with a diverse population of physicians, patients, patients' families, and medical staff.
• Demonstrate patient-centered and patient-valued behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Administer anesthesia and anesthesia-related care, including pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation and post-anesthetic follow-up, evaluation, and care.
• Formulate and carry out anesthetic patient care plans in collaboration or consultation with attending anesthesiologists.
• Provide care to the assigned patient population in accordance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plans of care, and clinical-area standards.
• Maintain and implement knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that govern nursing practice, and ensure hospital and Parkland compliance.
• Develop effective internal controls that promote adherence to state and federal laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health-plan program requirements.
• Maintain and update knowledge of sanitation, infection control, safety, supplies, equipment, and appropriate utilization of supplies and materials.
• Apply sound decision-making in anesthetic patient care, demonstrate ethical practice, and respect and maintain patients' rights.
• Demonstrate organizational skills and effective written and verbal communication when working with physicians, patients, patients' families, and medical staff.
• Demonstrate patient-centered and patient-valued behaviors.
