About The Position

The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care using the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies and procedures. The role monitors and evaluates patient functional status in an inpatient hospice setting. This is an ECB-status position requiring a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department, with limited benefit offerings. The schedule is variable. The nurse provides patient care, documents the nursing process, addresses problems and progress toward goals, and supports discharge planning through appropriate referrals and patient education. The role collaborates with other disciplines and contributes to unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities.

Requirements

Complete the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and hold or be entitled to hold a diploma or degree from that school.
Hold a valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
Have 0–6 months of related experience.
Have working knowledge of general disease-state management processes, the biopsychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
Have effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Be able to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
Be detail-oriented when examining clinical and numerical data.

Responsibilities

Use the nursing process to assess, organize, complete, and evaluate patient care.
Consider patients' age, cultural background, and psychosocial factors when providing care.
Document steps of the nursing process and use proper medical terminology.
Address patient problems and progress toward goals.
Support patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and age- and culturally suitable patient education resources.
Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate.
Support unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities, including attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.
