About The Position
At Johnson Memorial Hospital, the Registered Nurse in the Geriatric Wellness unit specializes in mental health care for elderly patients experiencing psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. The role includes direct patient care, emotional support, medication administration, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic and compassionate treatment. This is a part-time position for 24 hours on a 12-hour day shift, with every other weekend and holiday required.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
- Valid RN license in Connecticut.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- One or more years of psychiatric or geriatric experience in an acute inpatient setting.
- BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health assessments and monitor psychiatric symptoms in elderly patients.
- Work with physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide direct patient care and emotional support.
- Administer medications.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support holistic, compassionate treatment.
