About The Position

Wilson Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for its 19-bed Adult Behavioral Health Unit. The multidisciplinary team includes Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Mental Health Technicians, Social Work Therapists, Recreational Therapists, and Psychiatric Providers. The unit treats conditions including Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Substance Use Disorder. Patients may experience psychosis, suicidal or homicidal ideation, mania, or exacerbations of mental illness. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate in a supportive environment providing care to people experiencing behavioral health crises.

The RN performs patient assessments, identifies needs, initiates appropriate nursing interventions, uses crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques, and completes timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity and quality improvement assessments. The schedule is three 12-hour shifts, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with rotating weekends and holidays. The position is in person and offers a $20,000 commitment bonus.

Requirements

• Current state Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months of hire.

• One year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately perform patient assessments and identify patient needs.
• Identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Use crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
• Complete timely and appropriate medical-necessity documentation in the medical record.
• Perform timely and accurate quality improvement assessments.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary behavioral health team to provide care and support to patients experiencing behavioral health crises.
