About The Position

Paradise Valley Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide psychiatric and behavioral health care. The hospital provides inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services, including a psychiatric continuum of care for adult patients. Registered nurses treat patients, educate them about mental and medical conditions, and offer advice and emotional support to patients and their families. They also help with assessment, treatment, medication administration, follow-up, and rehabilitation.

Requirements

Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
Working knowledge of the interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.

Responsibilities

Treat patients and provide advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members.
Educate patients about mental and medical conditions.
Run therapeutic groups and provide psychiatric crisis intervention.
Perform seclusion and restraint of patients.
Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms.
Help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results.
Operate medical machinery.
Administer treatments and medications.
Help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
Teach patients and families how to manage illnesses or injuries, diet and exercise programs, self-administration of medication, and physical therapy.
Perform other related duties.
