About The Position

Paradise Valley Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare, is hiring a Registered Nurse for behavioral health services. The hospital provides psychiatric care for adult patients, including inpatient and intensive outpatient services. The RN treats patients, provides education and emotional support, conducts therapeutic groups, and performs psychiatric crisis interventions. The role also includes seclusion and restraint when needed, documentation, diagnostic support, operating medical equipment, administering treatments and medications, and supporting follow-up and rehabilitation. Nurses teach patients and families how to manage illness or injury, including diet and exercise programs, medication self-administration, and physical therapy. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
Working knowledge of the interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.

Responsibilities

Treat patients and educate them about mental and medical conditions.
Provide advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members.
Run therapeutic groups and provide psychiatric crisis intervention.
Perform seclusion and restraint of patients.
Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms.
Help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results.
Operate medical machinery and administer treatments and medications.
Help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
Teach patients and families how to manage illness or injury, including diet and exercise programs, self-administration of medication, and physical therapy.
Perform other related duties.
