About The Position
The Scheduler/Receptionist schedules tests and procedure cases for patients whose services occur as scheduled events. This may include visits and services in the Cardiac Cath Lab, Radiology, and Respiratory Therapy. The role coordinates with departments, ensures complete and accurate patient demographic information is entered in the computer system (including insurance and authorizations when applicable), and notifies departments when scheduled surgeries may require equipment, instrumentation, or supplies from outside vendors. The Scheduler/Receptionist also prepares and distributes surgical schedules and on-call lists to appropriate departments or personnel. The position is accountable to the Director of Ancillary Services/Supervisor of Medical Imaging.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
- Knowledge of multiple insurance authorization requirements.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Customer service experience required.
- Strong clerical and computer skills.
Nice To Haves
- One to two years of previous experience in a hospital environment preferred.
Responsibilities
