About The Position

University Radiology is seeking a full-time Scheduler for its imaging office in East Brunswick, New Jersey. The role works an 8-hour daytime shift, with start times varying according to department needs. The Scheduler handles a high volume of patient calls, schedules imaging appointments across modalities and office locations, communicates exam preparation and insurance requirements, and documents patient conversations. University Radiology is a New Jersey provider of subspecialty radiology and teleradiology services, with more than 200 board-certified radiologists and over 60 years of operations.

Requirements

Basic anatomy knowledge, such as knowledge of the abdomen, forearm, and lungs.
Familiarity with insurance plans and pre-certification requirements.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-call-volume environment.
Ability to collaborate as a team player and help maintain a professional, positive workplace.

Responsibilities

Answer a high volume of calls professionally and courteously, aiming to handle 9 to 10 calls per hour.
Document each patient’s record with notes capturing the conversation.
Schedule and reschedule appointments for all imaging modalities across all offices, balancing workload among locations.
Confirm that the patient’s signs and symptoms support the ordered exam, consulting an office technician when needed.
Confirm the appointment location and address with the caller.
Explain required exam preparations to patients and inform them of any needed lab tests.
Collect current insurance information and inform patients when a referral or pre-certification may be needed.
Stay current on changing insurance requirements and use the Insurance Matrix to determine which plans the organization participates with.
