About The Position

The Farmer’s Dog is dedicated to transforming pet health by offering a personalized subscription service for freshly-made dog food, aiming to innovate and enhance all aspects of pet care. Having delivered over 1 billion meals and secured over $150M in funding, the company is poised for continued growth. As the Procurement Operations Manager, you will be instrumental in managing internal processes and tooling to ensure the procurement team operates efficiently across shared workstreams. This role is critical for supporting Stage 0 commercialization and new item onboarding, guaranteeing robust coordination, visibility, and execution across various cross-functional teams, thereby empowering Category Owners to engage earlier and focus on sourcing strategy. You will collaborate closely with Product Development (PD), Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory (FSQR), Manufacturing, Supply Chain Strategy, and other teams to facilitate the smooth execution of high-impact initiatives. This position acts as the operational link between procurement and the wider organization, fostering alignment, clarity, and operational rigor. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong leadership and communication skills, possessing a highly analytical and organized mindset. You will be responsible for enhancing procurement operations by implementing scalable processes, improving visibility, and enabling data-driven decision-making. Additionally, this role involves managing a Procurement Analyst and reports directly to the Procurement Director.

Requirements

  • You have 5+ years of experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing roles.
  • In depth knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and tools.
  • You have excellent analytics skills and a proven track record of translating data driven insight into action and consumer facing impact.
  • You have clear, confident and persuasive verbal & written communication skills when working with a diverse group of cross stakeholders
  • You have project management experience and the ability to drive initiatives from concept to implementation.
  • You are a strong problem-solver and take a proactive approach to overcoming operational challenges.
  • You are adaptable and resilient in a dynamic and rapidly evolving business environment.
  • You’re experienced in leveraging vendor relationships, project management, and conflict resolution.
  • You develop strategies and take them through implementation and have a strong understanding of economics and analysis of value engineering.
  • You’re willing to travel up to 25% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain operational frameworks that improve how the procurement team collaborates, prioritizes work and delivers against goals.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and standardize repeatable processes, ensuring clarity and efficiency across initiatives.
  • Develop scalable systems and documentation practices that support transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a central coordinator for internal workflows, ensuring roles, responsibilities, and timelines are clearly defined and adhered to.
  • Manage and develop the Procurement Analyst, setting priorities and ensuring strong execution across key operational and analytical workstreams.
  • Oversee market and commodity tracking (e.g., proteins, packaging inputs, freight), ensuring timely, accurate insights are available to inform sourcing strategies and reforecasting.
  • Drive reporting and data visibility across procurement, including cost tracking, supplier performance, and key risk indicators.
  • Translate data into actionable insights to support Category Owners and leadership in decision making.
  • Support procurement execution for Stage 0 commercialization and new product introductions by coordinating timelines, inputs and cross functional alignment.
  • Partner with Category Owners, who retain ownership of sourcing strategy, to ensure early engagement, clear requirements, and alignment on ingredient sourcing, cost targets, and timelines.
  • Help facilitate supplier identification, evaluation, and onboarding in collaboration with Category Owners, ensuring alignment with broader sourcing strategies.
  • Drive visibility into risks, dependencies, and readiness across stakeholders, ensuring issues are surfaced and addressed early.
  • Lead coordination of procurement workstreams for new coman setup, ensuring readiness across contracting, ingredient availability, and documentation.
  • Act as a central point of coordination for cross functional partners, ensuring procurement related requirements and risks are proactively managed.
  • Establish and track timelines, dependencies, and ownership within the procurement team to support smooth coman onboarding.
