About The Position

Requirements

• Associate degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in an Emergency Department.
• Current licensure with the State of Texas.
• Appropriate CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

• Specialty certification.
• TNCC and ENPC certification preferred, or to be obtained within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.
• Conduct oneself in accordance with HMHD’s values and Code of Conduct.
• Attend required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs, and demonstrate proficiency with the materials presented.
• Comply with HIPAA standards.
• Communicate proactively with the Shift Manager as needed regarding patient assignments.
• Promote a positive work environment that supports professional respect, growth, creativity, and active participation in achieving the organization’s mission and vision.
• Ensure physician orders are followed and communicate patients’ progress, changes in condition, needs, and preferences to physicians.
• Ensure the medical record documents the nursing process, including patient assessments, the plan of care, nursing interventions, evaluation of patient response, and plan revisions as patient needs change. Plans should be established jointly with patients and families.
• Foster professional collaboration and staff participation in decisions affecting patient care and the practice environment.
• Ensure nursing personnel administer medications safely using the five rights.
• Promptly report medication errors, falls, concerns, and other events to the Shift Manager.
• Complete monthly and daily quality-improvement tasks.
