About The Position

Merlin is a venture-backed aerospace startup building a non-human pilot to enable both reduced crew and uncrewed flight. Backed by some of the world’s leading investors, Merlin is scaling alongside our customers to begin leveraging autonomy today to solve some of aviation’s biggest challenges. This role is for someone who has strong opinions about why some product launches go viral and others disappear, has studied viral reveals and campaigns, and has thought hard about what it would take to pull that off themselves. The ideal candidate is obsessed with products, wants to understand what Merlin is building at a deep level to translate its remarkable aspects into content, campaigns, and moments that capture attention. They believe the best marketing is true and told well, executes fast without waiting for perfect conditions, makes a plan, moves on it, and adjusts when learning something new. Tight deadlines do not cause stress, and they have shipped things under pressure. They have enough experience for good instincts but are hungry enough to still be proving themselves, wanting to work somewhere that moves fast, where their output is visible, and where a great idea can change the company. Merlin is building the autonomous flight system that will change how aircraft fly across military and civil, cargo and combat missions.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of marketing experience with demonstrable ownership of campaigns, launches, or content programs.
  • Recent graduates with exceptional portfolios and clear evidence of marketing instinct will be considered.
  • Strong writing skills, capable of writing both punchy social posts and substantive blog posts with a clear, direct voice and self-editing.
  • Product marketing fluency, understanding positioning, messaging hierarchy, and translating technical capability into customer-facing language.
  • Experience executing multi-channel campaigns under tight timelines, adapting to changes in launch dates.
  • High critical thinking skills, asking 'why' before 'how', pushing back on bad ideas, and bringing reasoning to recommendations.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in or genuine passion for aerospace, defense, or deep technology.
  • Experience at a startup or early-stage company where multiple hats were worn and things were shipped with limited resources.
  • Familiarity with the defense technology ecosystem, including companies, media, events, and what resonates with military or government audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Own execution across Merlin's product launch calendar, ensuring all content packages (press release support, launch blog, social campaign, paid media assets, internal comms) ship on time for several launches between May and September 2026.
  • Develop product marketing capabilities for Merlin's growing product family by deeply understanding the core product, customers, and competitive context, and translating this into compelling positioning, messaging, and content for defense, aviation, and investor audiences.
  • Manage Merlin's social media presence (LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and emerging channels) by developing an always-on content rhythm that builds audience between launches and amplifies announcements, with a focus on strategic posting rather than just scheduling.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Comms, Flight Ops, Programs, and the CEO to track upcoming milestones, extract stories, and build content around them before the moment passes, building relationships and earning trust with technical teams.
  • Support influencer and media engagement by identifying external voices, coordinating content, managing relationships with aviation and defense content creators, and orchestrating synchronized drops.
  • Track and report on marketing performance (engagement, reach, share of voice, launch performance) using data and instinct to continuously improve Merlin's external presence.
