About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher nursing degree.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
• At least 3 years of recent professional Registered Nurse experience.
• Clinical experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing relevant to the courses and clinical experiences being taught.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing.
• Strong commitment to nursing education and student success.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, clinical partners, and colleagues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to provide clear instruction and constructive feedback.
• Ability to supervise and evaluate students in clinical environments.
• Strong clinical judgment and knowledge of current nursing practice.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a faculty team.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and meet established deadlines.
• Professional demeanor and commitment to high standards of nursing practice and education.

Nice To Haves

• Prior nursing education or teaching experience.
• Experience teaching LPN/PN and/or RN students in classroom, laboratory, simulation, or clinical settings.
• Experience precepting, mentoring, or orienting nurses or nursing students.
• Experience with clinical evaluation and competency-based education.
• Experience using learning management systems and other educational technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom, laboratory, simulation, and/or clinical instruction in psychiatric and mental health nursing to LPN/PN and RN students, as assigned.
• Provide clinical instruction at inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and behavioral health clinical sites.
• Create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters students’ academic growth and professional development.
• Deliver instruction appropriate to students’ educational levels and needs.
• Supervise students in clinical environments and promote safe, professional nursing practice.
• Evaluate student performance and clinical competence in accordance with program objectives, policies, and standards.
• Use appropriate methods to assess student learning, progress, and competency.
• Prepare timely student progress and grade reports and maintain accurate attendance records.
• Provide students with guidance, feedback, and support.
• Maintain current psychiatric/mental health nursing knowledge and clinical expertise.
• Attend faculty meetings, training sessions, and other required academic or campus meetings.
• Maintain professional qualifications through continuing education, in-service training, and academic coursework as appropriate.
• Collaborate with faculty, administration, clinical partners, and other members of the academic community.
• Maintain professional standards and contribute to a positive learning environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Program Dean, or Campus Administration.
