About The Position
The Hospitality Aide performs non-direct-care activities to support residents, including passing ice and trays to residents who can feed themselves, making beds, and other hospitality tasks. The role works under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse to help assure patient safety and support each patient’s highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and current CPR certification, which must be obtained upon hire or during orientation and maintained throughout employment. The Hospitality Aide must follow facility practices, procedures, laws, regulations, guidelines, and company policies; maintain confidentiality and professional relationships; and demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, dependable attendance, and effective teamwork. Physical duties include intermittent sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving, as well as lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation; certification must remain current during employment.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
- Knowledge of practices and procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in a post-acute care facility.
- Ability to perform competency duties, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
- Ability to maintain professional working relationships and confidentiality of proprietary or confidential information.
- Ability to follow company policies, harassment and compliance procedures, and Life Care’s Code of Conduct.
- Excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients.
- Ability to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds from floor to waist and waist to shoulder, lift and carry 35 pounds, and push or pull 35 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Pass ice, water, and snacks to residents and clean nourishment refrigerators and carts.
- Assist with passing and retrieving meal trays for residents who are able to feed themselves, and clean dining areas after meals.
- Make unoccupied beds and change bed linens.
- Organize residents’ drawers and closets and label personal items.
- Organize shower rooms, clean utility rooms, and ensure adequate inventory.
- Provide one-to-one attention to cognitively impaired residents.
- Deliver residents’ mail.
- Transport wheelchair-bound residents to and from their rooms.
- Respond promptly to call lights.
- Assist with the evacuation of patients.
- Maintain dependable, regular attendance.
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
- Follow facility programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, and complete required compliance training.
