About The Position

Dungarvin is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver in Madison, WI. This role involves assisting people with disabilities in a residential group home setting to achieve various outcomes, including personal care and community integration. The DSP acts as a mentor, supporting individuals with daily activities, promoting independence, and encouraging them to reach personal goals. Medication administration and monitoring well-being are also key responsibilities. The company emphasizes a mission-driven approach focused on respect, response, and choice, aiming to help individuals live as independently as possible. For those interested in a Behavioral DSP role, prior experience with intense behaviors is preferred, along with patience, good decision-making, and crisis management skills. Prior experience in IDD, mental health, psychiatric, and/or security is strongly preferred for this specialized role.

Requirements

  • Valid Drivers License (due to transporting persons served)
  • Excitement for working with adults with disabilities
  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Good communication skills (reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members).
  • Successful background clearance is required as part of the onboarding/employment process
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Candidates must be comfortable driving company vehicles to transport persons served as required
  • Some positions / locations may require own personal vehicle and auto-liability insurance based on the role

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with adults with mental health issues, disabilities or related experience
  • Prior experience with intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical (for Behavioral DSP role)
  • Prior IDD, mental health, psychiatric, and/or security experience (for Behavioral DSP role)

Responsibilities

  • Support and mentorship with daily activities to those we support in a manner that ensures their health and safety.
  • Assisting with meals, cleaning, housekeeping, laundry duties and facilitating fun activities.
  • Hands-on mentoring to those we serve to help them become more independent.
  • Provide positive direction to the individuals to encourage them to achieve their personal goals.
  • Provide medication administration and ensure person's medical well being.
  • Assist in a residential group home by assisting people with disabilities achieve a variety of outcomes.
  • Assist with personal cares and provide normalization/community integration.
