About The Position

Requirements

  • University degree in Business or related, PLUS 7 years related experience or equivalent as described.
  • Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
  • Extensive leadership experience in enterprise planning, operations, reporting, or corporate services functions.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and driving organizational change in a complex environment.
  • Strong expertise in strategic planning, budgeting, financial management, forecasting, and business operations.
  • Experience overseeing performance reporting, governance activities, audits, and organizational accountability processes.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic-thinking skills with the ability to translate complex information into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship-management, consultation, and negotiation skills with the ability to build consensus across diverse groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing briefings and presenting to senior executives.
  • Experience managing organizational risk, operational priorities, and business continuity activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within an Information Management and Technology (IMT), digital services, or enterprise technology environment.
  • Knowledge of Government of Alberta planning, financial, contracting, procurement, and governance processes.
  • Understanding of government digital transformation, enterprise technology strategies, and IMT priorities.
  • Experience supporting executive-level decision-making through enterprise reporting and performance measurement.
  • Demonstrated political acumen and ability to navigate sensitive, high-profile, or complex stakeholder environments.
  • Experience managing contracts, vendors, and service delivery arrangements.
  • Proven ability to foster an agile, innovative, and continuous-improvement culture.
  • Experience acting in a senior leadership capacity on behalf of executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the reporting, planning, and business operations that help shape Alberta’s enterprise technology landscape.
  • Provide insight, governance, and operational excellence that enable informed decision-making and successful delivery of government-wide IMT priorities.
  • Leading enterprise IT performance reporting, governance reviews, audits, and service delivery oversight to support informed technology investment decisions.
  • Providing strategic analysis, advice, briefings, and recommendations to senior leaders on operational, financial, and organizational priorities.
  • Overseeing divisional business operations, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting, contract management, and business continuity activities.
  • Directing the development and delivery of reporting, analysis, and performance measurement to improve visibility and accountability across IMT initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with leaders across the division, department, and partner ministries to advance shared objectives.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams while fostering a collaborative, innovative, and agile workplace culture.
  • Managing risks, operational priorities, and organizational change to ensure divisional objectives are achieved effectively and efficiently.
  • Supporting executive leadership by acting on behalf of the Executive Director as required and contributing to strategic branch and divisional priorities.
