About The Position

New Covenant Academy (NCA), a Christian school serving grades Jr.K-12, is seeking a qualified seasonal candidate for the Jr. High School Girls Basketball coach position. The coaching season for Jr. High Girls Basketball is from August 17 to October 17, 2026. Candidates must support NCA's mission statement: "New Covenant Academy is a Christian school committed to Academic Excellence, Biblical Truth, and Christ-like character." The ideal candidate will fulfill the NCA faith-based Mission, meet applicable qualifications for a teacher, and preferably be a current teacher. Additionally, candidates should possess experience, expertise, or interest in basketball, demonstrate organizational abilities, receive a recommendation from the Athletic Director, and meet any other qualifications required by the Board.

Requirements

  • Support the NCA faith-based Mission.
  • Fulfill applicable qualifications for a teacher.
  • Have experience, expertise, or interest in the particular activity.
  • Have the ability to organize the activity.
  • Be recommended by the Athletic Director.
  • Meet Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) requirements for a head coach.
  • Possess a Four-Year College Degree OR have served as an Approved Assistant Coach for a minimum of TWO school years.
  • Hold a Professional Teacher’s Certificate OR have passed the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course (online) prior to coaching.
  • Successfully complete a Sports First Aid course prior to coaching and renew every two years.
  • Successfully complete CPR/AED training prior to coaching and renew every two years.
  • Pass a Background Check, including Sex-Offender Registry Clearance, prior to coaching.
  • Receive Board of Education or Board of Governance Approval prior to coaching.
  • Successfully complete a Concussion in Sports Course, and review current concussion information yearly.
  • Successfully complete the MSHSAA Sport-Specific Online Rules Review each season.

Responsibilities

  • Be familiar with and uphold all school and association guidelines and requirements relating to the activity.
  • Attend annual rules or other meetings as required.
  • Establish and supervise team tryout selection procedures.
  • Plan, supervise, and attend all practices and contests involving the group.
  • Make sure all phases of the activity are in compliance with MSHSAA guidelines and NCA philosophy and guidelines.
  • Be in compliance with all NCA policies and philosophies.
  • Develop a calendar of events involving the activity.
  • Comply with applicable eligibility requirements.
  • Hold a parent meeting prior to the beginning of the activity season.
  • Keep parents fully informed about the activity.
  • Comply with transportation policies established by the school.
  • Supervise the group at all times while at events, whether home or away, and in transit to and from events.
  • Encourage students in their academic pursuits.
  • Make reports as may be required by the Activities Director.
  • Maintain records as may be required by the Activities Director.
  • Cooperate with the Activities Director in planning special events.
