About The Position
Penske Logistics is hiring full-time Class A CDL truck drivers for a regional relay route between Lockport, Illinois, and Lincoln, Nebraska. Drivers deliver bread products to customers using pre-stacked wheeled dollies for roll-off deliveries and roll-on returns; no store deliveries are required. The driver relays freight in Lincoln, lays over, and returns home the following day. Drivers are expected to interact with customers professionally and courteously. Drivers operate late-model Penske Truck Leasing trucks with comfort-focused specifications and inward- and outward-facing in-cab cameras. The position offers an average annual pay of $80,000, a $10,000 sign-on bonus, and additional day and safety incentives. The regular schedule is four days per week—Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday—with a 5:00 PM dispatch. There is an opportunity to work a fifth and sixth day.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL; applicants must be domiciled in the United States and licensed in their state of residence.
- Currently hold or be able to obtain a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card.
- One year of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last three years, or two years of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last five years.
- Three years of DMV/MVR records with no more than two moving violations or accidents.
- English language proficiency as required by federal law.
- Ability to complete the Penske employment application and submit to a background investigation, including past employment, education, and criminal history, and drug screening.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Ability to see and hear, including close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to move frequently, stand, walk, and sit; use hands to touch, handle, and feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter and exit the vehicle and rear cargo area.
Responsibilities
- Deliver bread products to customers using pre-stacked wheeled dollies.
- Complete roll-off deliveries and roll-on returns; store deliveries are not required.
- Relay freight between Lockport, Illinois, and Lincoln, Nebraska.
- Lay over in Lincoln and return home the following day.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customers.
- Follow applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
- Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance and work the required schedule at the required location.
- Operate safely and remain alert, accepting responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others.
