This is an internal promotional examination for the position of Police Sergeant I. Eligible applicants must file a promotional application online by the application deadline. The examination is open to all police officers with a minimum of five (5) years of full-time law enforcement experience, with the last two (2) years being continuous service with the Tyler Police Department. The City of Tyler has a policy of non-discrimination in employment and affirms that employment decisions are based on a person's ability to perform essential job functions. This position requires presence in the office. The City supports a drug and alcohol-free workplace, and all candidates are subject to pre-employment testing, including drug and alcohol screenings, work fitness evaluations, criminal background checks, and consumer/credit reports.
