About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or another related field with previous experience in various accounting functions, or an equivalent combination of formal education and accounting-related experience.
• Experience with and knowledge of generally accepted accounting methods and procedures.
• Experience performing intermediate-level accounting activities, such as financial accounting, property accounting, account classification, or gas accounting.
• Experience using office equipment, computers, and applicable software.
• Experience and/or training related to financial accounting and reporting standards and processes as specified by the position.
• Experience and/or training related to economic forecasting/modeling and corporate budget functions as specified by the position.
• Experience and/or training related to gas accounting activities and terminology as specified by the position.
• Experience researching, composing, reconciling, and preparing reports, invoices, studies, and correspondence applicable to the position.
• Experience reading and interpreting company correspondence, reports, accounting-related publications, income statements, contracts, ledgers, manuals, computer printouts, and legal documents.
• Ability to interact, advise, and communicate effectively.
• Ability to develop and present information to individuals and groups, including conducting oral presentations and exchanging information.
• Ability to apply math, algebra, and statistical methods.
• Good interpersonal, analytical, oral and written communication, and time-management skills.
• Understanding of GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Perform operational accounting activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Analyze and/or prepare journal entries, reports, budgets, and records related to financial accounting, gas accounting, or economic forecasting and budgeting.
• Perform calculations and analyses, including interest, cash flow, financial ratios, pressure base/Btu conversions, discounts, variances, book and tax depreciation, and projections or forecasts.
• Assist in developing and maintaining applicable spreadsheet models and distributed applications used in finance and accounting activities.
• Compile, verify, and/or prepare financial information, including forecasted versus actual expenses, governmental or regulatory reports, invoices, financial reports, reconciliation reports, and quarterly income statements.
• Provide information and assistance to governmental or regulatory agency employees, auditing firms, management, and others regarding accounting processes and financial reports.
• Collaborate with other teams to develop and implement process improvements for internal and external customers.
• Work closely with Commercial and Operations to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition.
• Handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
