About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited School of Pharmacy required
• Current Texas Pharmacist License or eligibility to obtain licensure within 90 days of employment
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross within 90 days of employment
• IV Sterile Certification required for inpatient areas and Fondren Pharmacy at Smith Clinic
• Minimum of 2 years of related pharmacy experience or completion of a PGY1 residency
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Exceptional verbal communication and public-speaking skills
• Ability to explain medication information clearly to patients and families
• Medication reconciliation and discharge planning
• Patient medication education
• Mathematics and medical terminology
• Advanced computer skills
• Experience with web-based tools, point-of-sale systems, and clinical systems
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Creative problem-solving and excellent interpersonal skills
• Professional, confident, efficient, and resourceful
• Able to take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
• Committed to accuracy, patient safety, and exceptional service

Nice To Haves

• Doctor of Pharmacy preferred
• Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification preferred
• Texas Pharmacist Preceptor Certification preferred
• Bilingual Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

• Actively engage patients
• Reconcile discharge medications
• Fill prescriptions
• Coordinate bedside delivery
• Provide medication education before discharge
• Make follow-up calls to reinforce education
• Answer medication-related questions
• Ensure patients continue appropriate therapy after leaving the hospital
• Oversee Pharmacy Technician Transition Specialists
• Support inpatient pharmacy operations when needed
