About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Three years of nursing-related experience.
• Current RN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State, or a license to practice as an RN in the state where the team member works.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in critical care, emergency, and trauma nursing.
• Experience in Quality Improvement and research.
• TNCC or related certification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety program based on American College of Surgeons resources and State Department of Public Health Trauma Program requirements.
• Develop and assist with action plans for process improvement, and ensure follow-through and loop closure.
• Collaborate with the Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Nurse Coordinator, surgical house staff, trauma registry staff, and others to evaluate care and develop policies and procedures.
• Analyze and validate trauma registry data, and provide regular reports to identify improvement, education, and injury-prevention opportunities.
• Identify and document hospital-based and American College of Surgeons-approved performance improvement variances and complications, while keeping informed of applicable program requirements.
• Assess the need for trauma protocols, guidelines, pathways, and standard orders, and facilitate their development and compliance.
• Assist with developing and coordinating projects to enhance the trauma service; complete case reviews and analyze contributing factors to care variances or complications.
• Support trauma-related research by providing data in compliance with HIPAA and Prisma Health IRB regulations.
• Apply an understanding of trauma surgery procedures, trauma patient care standards, and potential injury complications.
• Facilitate, assist, and support the Trauma Team with issue resolution and care facilitation.
• Coordinate ATLS and/or ATCH in partnership with the Trauma Program Coordinator, and coordinate and participate in educational opportunities.
• Participate in trauma and hospital meetings related to Trauma Program performance improvement and provide reports.
• May attend trauma conferences, outcomes meetings, multidisciplinary and guidelines committees, state and national meetings, and other meetings as needed for trauma performance improvement; assist in trauma research.
