About The Position
Provides direct patient care based on the knowledge of ANA Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, Butler Hospital policies and procedures, and the Rhode Island Nurse Practice Act. The nurse participates in treatment planning and coordinates medical and nursing care and discharge planning. This role also coordinates psychiatric and/or medical emergencies, administers medications, supports the care team, and assumes the role of Charge Nurse for the shift.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Rhode Island nursing license.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Responsibilities
- Participate in treatment planning to coordinate management of medical and nursing care and discharge planning for patients.
- Coordinate psychiatric and/or medical emergencies to ensure the individual in crisis receives appropriate care and other patients remain safe.
- Participate as an active team member by assisting other staff and accepting additional assignments to complete essential patient care and unit responsibilities.
- Administer medications with knowledge of their action, mode of administration, side effects, and contraindications.
- Assume the role of Charge Nurse for the shift.
