About The Position

The Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, delivering, and managing direct patient care using the nursing process and adhering to nursing practice standards. The role supports care of patients from admission through discharge, including patient assessment, care planning, discharge coordination, and oversight of nursing care in the assigned clinical setting. This is a 32-hour-per-week evening position on the Med/Surg/Oncology unit, with scheduled hours of 2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. The schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday.

Requirements

Current Massachusetts nursing licensure and registration.
BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 30 days of hire.
Thorough knowledge of the discipline of nursing.
For designated areas only: ACLS through the American Heart Association within six months of hire or by the first scheduled course offering, whichever is sooner.
For designated areas only: PALS through the American Heart Association within six months of hire or by the first scheduled course offering, whichever is sooner.
For Maternity areas only: NRP Advanced Provider certification through the American Academy of Pediatrics within six months of hire or by the first scheduled course offering, whichever is sooner.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Use the nursing process to deliver and manage patient care from admission through discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
Perform patient assessments and reassessments according to standard procedures.
Develop and coordinate individualized plans of care, including discharge planning.
Direct, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care within the assigned clinical setting.
Delegate appropriately in accordance with job descriptions and competency levels.
