About The Position

This is a locum tenens position for an Advanced Practice Provider in Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, WA. The role involves inpatient coverage, including OR and ICU, with potential stepdown unit patient care. The practice performs a variety of complex surgeries including robotic procedures, bypass grafting, valve replacements, and thoracic surgeries. The provider will be part of a 4 Surgeon, 4 PA practice and will participate in call rotation.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Provider
  • Must be able to cover all shifts January 11, 7am through February 1, 7am
  • Must be able to cover all shifts February 8, 7am through March 1, 7am
  • Must be able to cover all shifts March 8, 7am through March 29, 7am
  • Must be able to cover all shifts April 5, 7am through April 30, 7am
  • Must be able to cover all shifts May 10, 7am through May 31, 7am
  • Must be able to cover all shifts June 7, 7am through June 30, 7am
  • Experience with Robotic Lobectomy and Thymectomy using the Davinci Robot
  • Experience with Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting
  • Experience with Aortic Valve Replacement/ TAVR procedures
  • Experience with Mitral Valve Repair and Replacement
  • Experience with Thoracotomy and VATS procedures
  • Experience with Left Ventricular assist Device Implantation
  • Experience with Aortic Dissection Repair
  • Experience with ECMO
  • Experience with Endoscopic Vein and Radial Harvesting using Maquet System(Hemopro 2 Vasoview)
  • Ability to perform First Assist in all procedures
  • Ability to Close Sternotomy
  • Ability to manage chest tubes
  • Ability to participate in call rotation (1 in 3 during the week and every fourth weekend)

Responsibilities

  • Cardiothoracic Surgery Rounding/discharge every morning
  • Admitting patients
  • Working in the OR and ICU
  • Seeing patients in stepdown unit
  • Morning Rounds, which include daily progress notes
  • Medication management, order appropriate labs and Studies as needed
  • Consults
  • History and Physical
  • Discharge Patients and Discharge Summaries
  • Chest tube management and removal
  • Attend Multidisciplinary rounds (when on call)
  • Daily Clinic (Monday-Thursday) post OP patients
  • First Assist in all procedures
  • Endoscopic Vein and Radial Harvesting using Maquet System(Hemopro 2 Vasoview)
  • Prepare Conduit harvested
  • Place Appropriate post operative orders
  • Close Sternotomy (Surgeon preference)
  • Call Coverage: Finishing Late cases, Taking calls from the CCU, Returning to the hospital for Emergency Cases
  • Weekend Call: Rounding with the Call Surgeon, Progress Notes, Chest tube management, Discharging Patients, Receiving calls from CCU, Available to return to Hospital for Emergency Cases
