Physician Assistant- ENT (Outpatient)

About The Position

Performs a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for patient admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation. Participates in performance improvement, research, and educational activities. The role includes taking patient histories and performing physical examinations; initiating, documenting, and communicating plans of care; ensuring patients are screened and prepared; conducting daily patient rounds; ordering medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests; interpreting test results; and coordinating with physicians and other care providers to support quality patient care. Upon discharge, the Physician Assistant documents discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals in patient charts and provides patients with post-discharge care instructions. Other related duties may be required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
Graduation from an accredited Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs (ARC-PA) program.
Current New York State Department of Education license to practice as a Physician Assistant.
Current NCCPA certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

Take initial patient histories and perform physical examinations.
Initiate, document, and communicate the plan of care, and follow up to ensure complete patient screening and preparation.
Perform daily patient rounds.
Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
Interpret laboratory and test results.
Confer with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.
Document discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals in patient charts.
Inform patients of necessary post-discharge care instructions.
Participate in performance improvement, research, and educational activities.
Perform related duties as required.
