About The Position
The Patient Access Representative serves as the primary point of contact for patients and customers, providing service and support throughout the healthcare experience. This float position covers multiple provider locations based on business and staffing needs, traveling among Fort Wayne, Auburn, Columbia City, Huntington, Wabash, Warsaw, Kendallville, and LaGrange. The role includes patient registration, communication, administrative support, and record management in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards. The position is permanent, based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and fully onsite at various locations.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- At least one year of medical office experience.
- Face-to-face customer service or reception experience.
- Customer service skills.
- Patient registration skills.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel regularly between specified locations.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts between 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Travel between Fort Wayne, Auburn, Columbia City, Huntington, Wabash, Warsaw, Kendallville, and LaGrange based on staffing coverage.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and internal departments.
- Respond to patient and customer inquiries via phone, email, and other communication channels.
- Deliver professional, courteous, and accurate customer service.
- Gather, verify, and update patient demographic and insurance information.
- Educate patients about services, procedures, and next steps.
- Research and resolve customer concerns using multiple computer systems and databases.
- Communicate test results, appointment information, and service updates according to established procedures.
- Review documentation for accuracy and escalate discrepancies when identified.
- Maintain patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards.
- Support administrative and record-management functions at multiple locations as assigned.
