About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Equivalency.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic, or similar setting, including hands-on clinical patient care such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures; or graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on patient experience.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine must obtain BAT and DOT certifications within 90 days of hire.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with an electronic medical record system.
• Current Medical Assistant certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP.
• Graduation from an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate direct patient care activities and provide clinical support to providers.
• Check in patients and facilitate patient flow.
• Obtain vital signs and reconcile medications.
• Collect and document patient medical history.
• Navigate the EPIC electronic health record system.
• Communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients, and physicians.
• Schedule appointments, process medication requests, handle prior authorizations, and coordinate tests and procedures.
• Upon successful completion of clinical competency, perform EKGs, laboratory tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy as required.
• Complete the clinical competency assessment and MA orientation upon hire.
