The Fleet Manager is responsible for independently creating and modifying driver schedules based on customer needs to ensure efficient deliveries. This role involves monitoring fuel usage and making autonomous decisions regarding fuel delivery, including diverting, canceling, or adding loads. The manager determines the number of trips and vehicles, assigns drivers and equipment, and supervises drivers to ensure load safety. Key responsibilities also include coordinating daily terminal activities, processing customer orders, preparing schedules for local and long-distance moves, and ensuring drivers adhere to logistic supervisor directions. The Fleet Manager must use judgment to assess driver fitness for duty, ensure compliance with all regulations, assist drivers with difficult addresses, investigate and resolve customer and driver complaints, interpret and enforce company policies, and recommend disciplinary actions to higher management. Active participation in monthly safety meetings, including presenting on topics, and reinforcing company safety policies with drivers during loading, unloading, and driving are also crucial aspects of the role. Additionally, the manager monitors critical error reports related to roll stability and hard braking and coordinates driver reviews with the terminal manager.
