Community Service Worker / Housing Retention Specialist

About The Position

CVOEO is hiring a Community Service Worker / Housing Retention Specialist at Franklin Grand Isle Community Action. This position will provide housing-focused case management, advocacy, and retention support for individuals and families with low income, with an emphasis on helping households in the CVOEO service area obtain, stabilize, and maintain safe, suitable housing. Support households in developing saving, spending, and problem-solving strategies that strengthen their ability to sustain permanent housing. Advocate for clients with agencies, landlords, and funding sources to address rent arrears, security deposits, utility needs, lease concerns, and other issues that may threaten housing stability. Provide information, referrals, and encouragement for households to access appropriate services and take action to address barriers to housing stability, including referrals to CVOEO programs such as Financial Futures for credit repair, budgeting, and asset development.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in case management, social services, or a related human services field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Knowledge of community resources and counseling/social work practices with high-risk populations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, access to reliable transportation and willingness and ability to travel within the CVOEO service area.
  • Ability to uphold safety standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge are acquired will be considered.
