About The Position

Join PeaceHealth Springfield Rehabilitation Hospital, a new inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) opening in 2026, as a Health Information Manager. This role is crucial in ensuring the completion and accuracy of medical records, meeting all regulatory and facility requirements. You will collaborate with physicians and hospital staff, manage daily error reports, respond to inquiries about patient records, and investigate potential HIPAA incidents. The position involves performing timely audits of medical charts for completeness and accuracy, preparing records post-discharge, and monitoring deficiency rates to maintain them below 30%. This is a full-time position within Lifepoint Health, a network committed to making communities healthier.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in health information management required
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • May be required to work flexible hours

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with physicians and hospital staff to assure completion of records that meet all regulatory and facility requirements.
  • Reviews and responds to the daily fatal error reports for HIM related issues.
  • Answer inquiries from internal and external contacts regarding information recorded in patient’s medical records, within all departmental policies and guidelines.
  • Responds appropriately to any potential HIM issues.
  • Reports/records HIPAA incidents in a timely manner & investigates to determine if breach of confidentiality occurred.
  • Performs timely audits on medical charts to ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Prepares/audits the medical records post discharge to assure all required documentation is present.
  • Accurately records and monitors departmental deficiency rate and maintains rate below 30%.
