Data Systems Instrumentation Technician

About The Position

The Data Systems Instrumentation technician’s primary duties are to install data acquisition equipment on PACCAR Medium and Heavy-Duty semi-truck test vehicles. The Data Systems technician will work under the direction of engineers and senior technicians to install various electronic transduces and data acquisition equipment in accordance with test objectives and established procedures. The Data Systems technician will be responsible for collecting test track data, field-testing data, ensuring data quality, and providing it for engineering analysis. The Data Systems technician will operate and manage the data acquisition equipment used by PACCAR and be responsible for keeping test-related documentation accurate and up to date.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in field test data collection
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft office products.
  • Strong mathematical skills, basic knowledge of electronics
  • Strong Understanding of Metrology Calibration procedures
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electronic circuits.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to operate Heavy Duty Vehicles (CDL not required, training provided)

Responsibilities

  • Specify, procure, and Install transducers and data acquisition equipment
  • Configure and operate data acquisition test control software
  • Operate heavy duty trucks on test track
  • Prepare data for analysis
  • Perform calibration of accelerometers, pressure sensors and analog devices.
  • Maintain calibration database and other documentation
  • Develop and maintain written process documentation.
  • Foster effective communication and cooperative work relationships with other departments.
  • Inform managers, peers and internal customers of work progress and issues.
  • Flexible and willing to adapt to changing duties, activities, and priorities.
