About The Position

The Human Resources Coordinator serves as BCC’s human resources officer and performs a range of human resources and other administrative functions. This role involves planning, managing, and implementing HR programs, supporting day-to-day operations, and workforce planning. Additionally, the coordinator provides administrative support for accounts payable, general office management, and participates in collaborative team meetings and company events.

  • Must possess and maintain criminal background clearance.
  • Must meet immunization requirements including pertussis, measles, and flu, clear health exam, and proof of TB clearance.
  • Must have the use of an automobile and must possess a valid California Driver’s license and adequate automobile insurance coverage.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a publicly funded preschool, Head Start, or early intervention program.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the organization’s lead HR professional and works closely with the CEO to plan, manage, and participate in the implementation of human resources programs and projects supporting day-to-day operations and workforce planning.
  • Screens employment candidates, identifies qualified applicants, and coordinates interviews; supports recruitment and employment practices aligned with organizational needs and applicable requirements.
  • Partners with the CEO to develop recruitment strategies.
  • Attend job fairs, campus events, and other recruitment and networking opportunities as needed.
  • Coordinates onboarding and offboarding processes, including preparation of new hire paperwork, orientation scheduling, and employee file setup.
  • Conducts new hire orientations and plans and coordinates training activities for staff and supervisors.
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation, and maintains I-9 files in compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Enter and accurately update employee personnel information in the appropriate databases and systems.
  • Performs periodic audits of personnel files to ensure compliance with licensing requirements, contractor requirements, and internal policies.
  • Review updates, interpret and assist in the development of the Employee Handbook and HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with licensing, contractor requirements and employment laws.
  • Tracks, coordinates, and supports enrollment of new employees into benefit programs and maintains employee benefits records.
  • Assists the Controller with entering, maintaining, and processing payroll-related information and documentation.
  • Assists with payroll-related functions such as distributing checks, responding to basic employee payroll questions, and serving as a backup for payroll processing.
  • Responds to employee and applicant inquiries; guides supervisors and department managers on routine personnel matters and escalates complex issues to the CEO when appropriate.
  • Coordinates the performance review process and supports supervisors with documentation and timelines.
  • Assists with planning and implementation of staff training, meetings, employee engagement events.
  • Provides administrative support for accounts payable, ensuring payment request forms are completed for all departments.
  • Organizes and assists with accounts payable documentation and vendor financial records.
  • Verifies and investigates discrepancies in accounts payable.
  • Orders and purchases office and education department supplies with supervisor approval.
  • Directs Administrative Assistant to help maintain receipts.
  • Prepares publication invoices for shipping; maintains accurate records in QuickBooks.
  • Monitors and tracks accounts receivable and sends periodic reminders for past-due invoices.
  • Handles customer service calls and inquiries related to publication orders.
  • Assists the Controller with various tasks including fixed asset schedules, inventory, audit document preparation, and 1099 processing.
  • Provides administrative support for staff, including minor technical support with software and computer use and assistance with processing paperwork.
  • Monitors and coordinates office workflow, including training, planning, assigning, and directing work of assigned office staff.
  • Implements, updates, and communicates office procedures to ensure efficiency and consistency.
  • Provides front office coverage as needed, including answering and routing calls, greeting children and parents, signing in visitors, and directing them to appropriate personnel and departments.
  • Participates in Collaborative Team Meetings with the management team.
  • Participates in BCC events, which may require flexible hours and occasional weekends.
  • Adheres to established Standards of Conduct and maintains confidentiality and mandated reporter requirements.
  • Engages in ongoing professional growth, including action planning and completion of at least 15 hours of professional development annually.
  • Attends all required meetings and training as directed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
