Internal Communications Manager

About The Position

At Zuora, we help businesses grow smarter and adapt faster. Our platform powers modern business models — from subscriptions and usage-based pricing to AI-driven and outcome-based offerings — helping companies launch new products, automate complex billing, and unlock predictable, recurring revenue. We’ve led the Subscription Economy for more than a decade. Now we’re evolving again by building the definitive platform for quote to cash and helping companies monetize their products and services with an adaptable, AI-ready foundation. The Opportunity: Zuora is looking for an experienced Internal Communications Manager to design and lead a global communications strategy that keeps every ZEO (employee) informed, aligned, and inspired as we grow. In this role, you’ll shape how we tell our story internally — connecting our vision, strategy, and culture to the day-to-day experience of ZEOs across regions and functions. You’ll partner closely with the CEO, Chief Diversity Officer, ZEO Success (HR), Marketing, and senior leaders to build a cohesive internal communications system and cadence that supports change, amplifies our culture, and helps teams act with speed and clarity. This is a highly visible, hands-on role where you’ll combine strategic thinking, storytelling, and program execution to deliver measurable impact on employee engagement and alignment.

Requirements

  • Bring significant experience (typically 8+ years) in employee/internal communications, corporate communications, or related fields, including experience leading people or cross-functional programs.
  • Have a track record of building integrated internal communications programs that improve employee understanding, engagement, and connection to company strategy — ideally in a fast-paced, global technology or B2B environment.
  • Are a strong storyteller and writer who can quickly distill complex topics into clear, compelling, and visually engaging narratives for different audiences and channels.
  • Demonstrate strategic acumen — you see the big picture, connect dots across functions, and use communications to drive culture, change, and business outcomes (not just distribute information).
  • Excel at stakeholder management and collaboration, building trusted, productive relationships with executives, HR, Marketing, and leaders across regions; you know the “how” matters as much as the “what.”
  • Thrive in an ever-changing, high-growth environment, balancing long-term planning with the ability to pivot and respond to urgent issues and time-sensitive communications.
  • Have experience creating and executing communications strategies for talent programs, Social Impact, and Inclusion & Diversity initiatives, and care deeply about building an inclusive, high-performance culture.
  • Are comfortable using data (e.g., engagement survey results, channel analytics) and feedback to measure impact, iterate, and continuously improve communications programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working closely with or within Marketing to align internal and external narratives.
  • Familiarity with modern internal communications tools and analytics (e.g., intranet platforms, town hall tooling, survey/feedback tools, video and visual content formats).

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver a global internal communications strategy that clearly connects ZEOs to our vision, strategy, and priorities, as reflected in year-over-year improvement on engagement survey items related to communication, leadership visibility, and understanding of company direction.
  • Establish a consistent leadership communications cadence (e.g., All Hands, global kickoffs, executive updates) that enables senior leaders to communicate with clarity and confidence, increasing perceived effectiveness of leadership communication and reducing last-minute, reactive comms.
  • Modernize and optimize internal channels — including the intranet, newsletters, All Hands, and other digital and live forums — to drive higher reach and engagement (e.g., improved open rates, attendance, and content consumption across key employee segments).
  • Lead communications for major enterprise initiatives and change programs (e.g., organizational changes, talent programs, Inclusion & Diversity, Social Impact), enabling successful adoption as measured by clear understanding of changes, reduced confusion, and progress against initiative-specific goals.
  • Own the end-to-end engagement survey program as a critical bridge between leadership and ZEOs — driving strong participation, insightful narrative synthesis, and follow-up action plans that lead to observable improvements in team and company-level results.
  • Build and manage an editorial calendar and small comms team that brings structure, predictability, and prioritization to internal storytelling, ensuring HR and company-wide moments are coordinated, relevant, and aligned to our values and brand.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation, variable bonus and performance-based reward opportunities, and retirement programs
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous, flexible time off, plus paid holidays, wellness days, and a company-wide year-end break
  • Paid parental leave (including fully paid leave for eligible ZEOs, subject to local policy)
  • Learning & development stipend to support ongoing growth
  • Opportunities to volunteer and give back, including charitable donation matching where available
  • Mental wellbeing resources and support
  • Benefits may vary by location; details will be shared during the interview process
