The English Department at the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, Minnesota) is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Writing Studies and co-director of the Center for Writing, starting September 1, 2027. This position is ideal for candidates specializing in writing center theory and practice, with a preference for those with subspecialties in writing instruction for neurodiverse and/or multilingual learners, inclusive pedagogy, and/or the use of generative AI in writing. The role involves teaching first-year literature and writing courses, a Writing Center Theory & Practice undergraduate course, a Teaching College English graduate course, and other courses based on the candidate's expertise. A key aspect of this role is the co-directorship of the university's Center for Writing for an initial three-year term, which includes a reduced teaching load of five courses per academic year. Upon achieving tenure and promotion, the co-director will assume full responsibility as Director, with a reduced course load of four courses and summer duties. The department values creativity, curiosity, versatility, and a commitment to using disciplinary knowledge for equity, action, and hope. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active scholarly agenda, engage in student academic advising, and contribute to departmental, university, and community service.
