About The Position
The Early Head Start Assistant Teacher supports a lead teacher in creating an encouraging classroom where children can grow socially, intellectually, and emotionally. The role helps children throughout daily learning and care routines, including learning centers, stories, meals, and outdoor time. The Assistant Teacher stays attentive to children’s needs, supports a safe and welcoming environment, organizes classroom routines and materials, and shares notes with the teacher.
Requirements
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; or
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or an equivalent field, with experience.
Responsibilities
- Support lesson planning and classroom instruction alongside the teacher.
- Help maintain a safe, caring space where children are supervised and supported.
- Keep routines organized so the classroom runs smoothly throughout the day.
- Support children during learning centers, stories, meals, and outdoor time.
- Reset classroom materials between transitions and share notes with the teacher.
- Help create a welcoming classroom and attend to each child’s needs.
