About The Position
This posting is for a Regular Part-Time Professor position for the course SOC3709 A00, "Sécularisation et religion", during the Fall 2026 semester at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies. The course will explore sociological perspectives on the relationship between the religious and the secular, including comparative and socio-historical analyses, secularization, laïcité, the return of religion in the public sphere, existing data, methods, and theories, global and regional variations, state management of religious diversity, controversies over religious symbols, and the links between religion and nationalism. It will analyze contemporary approaches from the sociology of religions and political sociology.
Requirements
- Hold a Master's degree in sociology and have completed doctoral coursework in sociology or advanced training in sociology.
- Possess a record demonstrating expertise in the field of secularization and religion, evidenced by teaching identical or similar courses or by publications in this field.
Responsibilities
