About The Position

Requirements

• One year experience in a clinical or hospital setting with direct patient care is required.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Training in IV placement with EMR documentation and proven competency is required within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when performing care, resolving patient care problems and dealing with patients and families.
• Ability to use general medical support equipment, including patient lifting devices.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions, as well as give clear directions to patients and others in need of assistance and guidance.
• Good listening skills.
• Ability to use standard office equipment including computers, fax, copy, document scanners, and tube stations.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in venipuncture techniques preferred.
• Associate degree in a healthcare or medical-related field preferred.
• Internal education on IV placement is required within 90 days of hire.
• Nursing Observation rotation also required.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient centered care across all areas of Imaging Services.
• Performs clerical duties including reception, way finding, registration, insurance verification, documentation in EMR, and utilization of proper phone etiquette.
• Communicates detailed/clear information by phone and in person to prepare patients for studies.
• Monitors inpatients and assists them with basic needs.
• Monitors patients and transports them to and from the imaging department.
• Assists technologists with performing imaging studies.
• Places, flushes, and removes IVs.
• Runs labs.
