About The Position

The Imaging Tech Assistant supports Imaging Technologists and serves as a resource for patients during their procedures. The role works with physicians to communicate and share results with patients and assists with patient preparation, exam scheduling, prior-study retrieval, authorizations, and routine paperwork. The position is full-time and benefits eligible, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., in Columbus, Ohio.

Requirements

High school graduate.
Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology, including radiation safety, equipment safety, body mechanics, and patient movement.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices.
Ability to work on a team and display a positive attitude.
Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Excellent relationship-building skills.

Nice To Haves

Prior healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

Monitor modality schedules to identify exams that need prior studies requested for Radiologist review.
Contact outside facilities by phone, fax, and email to request prior exams.
Assist technologists with duties under their direct supervision.
Direct patients to appropriate modality areas.
Prepare patients for radiologic procedures.
Process routine paperwork.
Communicate preparation instructions and facility information to patients as needed.
Work with the Precertification Department to obtain or change exam authorizations.
Communicate with Radiologists, Physicians, and COPC practices.
Monitor exam schedules and retrieve appropriate information for technologists.
Maintain examination rooms and stock necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
Attend required staff and educational meetings.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
