About The Position

The Registered Radiology Assistant/Radiology Practitioner Assistant (RRA/RPA) oversees the Diagnostic X-ray division of the Imaging Center. This includes managing patient flow, ensuring patient satisfaction, completing necessary forms and paperwork, and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and overall quality of examinations. The RRA/RPA is responsible for preparing personnel schedules and assisting the Human Resources Manager and/or Administrator with evaluations and disciplinary actions. Clinically, the role involves providing a broad range of radiology healthcare services under the supervision of a licensed physician, assessing and evaluating the physiologic responsiveness of patients, and participating in patient management, including prescriptive powers for imaging procedures. The RRA/RPA administers intravenous medications or contrast media under physician supervision, performs fluoroscopic procedures, and may conduct routine x-ray examinations, ensuring technical quality. Additional duties include preparing patients for diagnostic x-ray procedures, assisting with agency inspections (OSHA, DHS), actively participating in leadership meetings, ensuring quality assurance, preparing images for interpretation on the PAC's system, maintaining patient record confidentiality, and logging imaging procedures. The position is full-time with day shifts from 8 am to 5 pm.

Requirements

  • Registered Radiology Assistant/Radiology Practitioner Assistant certification/registration
  • Ability to oversee and manage the Diagnostic X-ray division
  • Proficiency in providing radiology healthcare services under physician supervision
  • Competence in administering intravenous medications and performing fluoroscopic procedures
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (OSHA, DHS)
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and accurate records

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the overall function of Diagnostic X-ray division of the Imaging Center, including, but not limited to, patient flow, patient satisfaction, completion of necessary forms and paperwork, compliance with all applicable regulations and overall quality of examinations.
  • Prepares schedule of personnel to provide staffing in the diagnostic X-ray Division.
  • Assists Human Resources Manager and/ or Administrator with evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Provides a broad range of radiology healthcare services under supervision of licensed physician.
  • Assesses and evaluates the physiologic responsiveness of each patient.
  • Participates in patient management, including the prescriptive powers for imaging procedures.
  • Administers intravenous medications or contrast media, under the supervision of a licensed physician and records documentation in medical records.
  • Performs fluoroscopic procedures in accordance with "standing orders".
  • May conduct routine x-ray examinations on patients. Ensures technical quality of films and exercises judgement in processing assigned work.
  • May Prepare patients for diagnostic x-ray procedures. In doing so, escorts patients to dressing and x-ray rooms, provides verbal and written instructions and assists patients in positioning body parts.
  • Assists with agency inspections, as required (OSHA, DHS and other).
  • Actively participates in leadership meetings, to include assisting with agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Ensures quality assurance requirements are met, and provides necessary documentation.
  • Prepares images for interpretation on the PAC's system.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient record information.
  • Maintains log of imaging procedures.
  • Performs other special duties, as required , or assigned to ensure efficient operation of the department.
