About The Position
The Scheduler manages incoming calls and requests for Presurgical Testing (PST) visits, day-of-surgery work-ups, and phone interviews, and schedules appointments. The role screens calls from physician offices and other resource units, collects the clinical information needed to determine the appropriate appointment type and time, and supports interactions among patients, physician offices, and resources within the health system. The Scheduler also collects and enters statistics for monitoring and data collection.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- CRT experience.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- Medical terminology.
- Some medical office experience.
Responsibilities
- Screen calls and accurately schedule PST appointments.
- Collect patient medical history and scheduled procedural information, and record it accurately.
- Obtain relevant medical records for pre-operative charts from sources such as physician offices, HIM, computerized documentation systems, and diagnostic testing centers.
- Assist with preparing PST charts for nursing staff.
- Compile statistics daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Serve as a superuser for the FaxCert system.
- Identify, label, and index data received through the FaxCert system.
- Participate in training and orientation of new employees.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
