About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred, CNA and EMTs can work as MA in accordance to the 800 Rule
• Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) strongly preferred
• CPR certification required
• Prior experience in a rural or primary care setting is a plus
• Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Assists the Provider with patients, including preparing patients and the examination rooms; taking initial medical history for the chart, taking vital signs, making lab and x-ray appointments, and explaining the preparations to the patients.
• Assists the Physician in all special procedures, as required.
• Promptly intervenes with appropriate action in an emergency.
• Carries out physician/provider orders.
• Handles phone calls as directed by the physician, such as calling in prescriptions, and notifies patients of diagnostic testing results.
• Gives injections and medications prescribed by the physician.
• Responsible for some patient education, completing physical forms and referral arrangements, and assists in maintaining a large volume and variety of medical records in accordance to office procedures.
• Must be able to incorporate observation and assessment skills and differentiate between critical and non-critical patient conditions to initiate appropriate procedures.
• Responsible for proper handling and storage of all medications stored in the office.
• Performs office testing such as spirometry, tympanometry pulse oximetry, and office lab procedures.
• Responsible for keeping exam rooms clean and properly stocked with supplies.
• Demonstrates proper handling and storage of all medications stored in the clinic.
• Cleaning and sterilization of instruments and equipment, as trained and requested.
• Works and communicates cooperatively with team members to identify and complete responsibilities and meet department goals.
• Participates in department activities to improve patient care systems, shares new information with all team members, attends team meetings, and effectively orients/mentors’ new staff as requested.
• Maintains current knowledge and skills applicable to job assignment through continuing education or professional organization.
• Follows all procedures and policies and demonstrates competency and proficiency as required.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Continuous learning in both personal and professional development.
• Consistent review, comprehension and reply of company email and related correspondence.
• In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon MMH needs or requirements.
