About The Position

Provides patient care in an office setting, assisting providers and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as a primary liaison between patients, families, staff, and providers. This role requires strong communication, record-keeping, and general nursing care skills, along with the ability to maintain exam rooms and administer medications and treatments. The Medical Assistant will also coordinate scheduling for preventative visits and maintain lab areas.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Possess knowledge of approved medical abbreviations and correct spelling of the English language.
  • Ability to work with non-cooperative patients, patients with psychosocial problems and needs, or chronic and acute health problems.
  • Ability to adapt to various work assignments.
  • Possess good customer service skills and exceptional telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity.
  • May require handling/lifting of children/objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • May require standing/sitting/walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • Prolonged use of telephone may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant.
  • If no experience, requires 2 recommendations from faculty and/or extern program.
  • Office experience preferred.
  • Previous computer experience helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with clinical, clerical, and billing departments, providers, patients, and families to ensure continuity of care.
  • Accurately completes and maintains medical records and documents.
  • Performs telephone triage utilizing approved protocols.
  • Provides general nursing care to patients.
  • Maintains exam rooms and lab area, preparing, stocking, and cleaning rooms, and maintaining supplies and equipment for treatment.
  • Administers/documents medication, vaccines, and treatments.
  • Maintains skills and knowledge base through reading, training, and other structured in-services.
  • Attends clinical meetings as scheduled.
  • Conducts self in accordance with Tribe 513 employee manual.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
  • Maintains the lab area and lab processes.
  • Coordinates scheduling of preventative well visits while performing patient rooming duties.
