About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Secondary math teaching certification from the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board.
• Experience working with students with mathematical learning difficulties or skill deficits.
• Specialized expertise in secondary mathematics instruction and intervention beyond general classroom teaching.
• Ability to identify and remediate gaps in mathematical understanding among students with prolonged academic challenges.
• Expertise in diagnosing misconceptions in number sense, proportional reasoning, algebraic thinking, and problem-solving processes.
• Ability to use data to design targeted, age-appropriate interventions that accelerate learning and rebuild student confidence.
• Ability to connect foundational concepts to grade-level expectations and help students apply learning across disciplines.
• High school proficiency-level math skills.
• Ability to read, write, understand, interpret, and apply moderately complex information; exercise judgment; process information quickly; learn and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; prioritize tasks; and coordinate information and records.
• Physical abilities may include reading small print, viewing a computer screen for prolonged periods, communicating by telephone and in person, manipulating small objects, reaching, lifting, and frequently lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing 5 or more pounds.
• Ability to work cooperatively and independently, manage constant work interruptions, and work indoors and outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver targeted, evidence-based mathematics interventions to individual students and small groups in grades 9–12.
• Teach foundational and advanced mathematical concepts, including number sense, operations, algebraic reasoning, and problem-solving strategies.
• Scaffold instruction so students can engage with grade-level mathematics across disciplines.
• Integrate instruction in conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and mathematical reasoning.
• Create a supportive learning environment that builds students’ confidence and persistence in mathematics.
• Provide equal opportunity to students regardless of race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, background, or abilities.
• Communicate with students and parents and strive to maintain positive relationships.
• Administer and interpret screening and diagnostic math assessments to identify learning gaps.
• Monitor student progress using progress-monitoring tools and formative and summative data.
• Maintain accurate, current records of student performance and intervention goals.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom and respond appropriately to behavior throughout the school environment, including on school-sponsored trips.
• Collaborate with content-area teachers to align intervention strategies and schedules with Tier I math instruction.
• Serve as a mathematics resource for secondary staff by sharing intervention strategies and instructional best practices.
• Maintain compliance with state and district mathematics or intervention mandates.
• Organize the classroom to promote learning and student safety, and ensure classroom equipment functions safely.
• Participate in professional growth and other professional activities, including coursework, workshops, conferences, committees, taskforces, studies, and councils.
• Follow school and District policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate professional responsibility, including ethical conduct, accurate reporting, meeting deadlines, confidentiality, care of materials and equipment, and appropriate dress and role-model behavior.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
