About The Position

The Wellness Pet Company is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for the 3rd Shift at their manufacturing plant in Decatur, AR. This role is responsible for directly supervising maintenance employees, ensuring employee and food safety, overseeing adherence to PM schedules, coaching and developing team members, and facilitating team problem-solving. The supervisor will also be involved in emergency response coordination, compliance with company policies, and driving continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing concepts. Key responsibilities include managing employee performance, conducting investigations, ensuring data accuracy, and proactively managing safety by complying with all federal and state regulations and internal company policies. The role also requires completing safety and quality system documentation, reporting deviations, and participating in mandatory training. The ideal candidate will be consumer-focused, accountable, a collaborator, and committed to giving back to the community and supporting sustainable practices.

Requirements

  • 3-5 Years experience in a Maintenance/Team Lead Role
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Experienced in managing employee performance, conducting reviews, coaching, and administering disciplinary action
  • Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to manage at least 10 employees
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to work in an environment which includes frequent exposure to elements such as odor, noise, heat, cold, dust and chemicals
  • Previous experience work with extruders, packaging systems and conveying equipment.
  • Prior experience in a food or beverage manufacturing.
  • Experience operating production machines.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise employees in Maintenance.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible for both employee safety as well as food safety.
  • Actively involved in coaching employees on all aspects of performing their duties in the safest manner possible for both personal safety and food safety.
  • Conducts regular Employee Communication Meetings.
  • Oversee adherence to PM schedules.
  • Responsible for coaching and developing team members.
  • Facilitates team problem solving, decision making, fair and timely disciplinary action, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensures performance appraisals and progress reports are done in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates the communication between shifts and teams.
  • Train staff on effective maintenance practices.
  • Oversee repairs in a timely manner.
  • Schedule maintenance work order around production down time.
  • Coordinate part usage and oversee parts check out.
  • Act as on-shift representative for emergency response coordination, compliance to Company policies (drug/alcohol, attendance, EEO, etc.)
  • Responds to employee issues as needed, conducts thorough investigations and coordinates results/issues.
  • Demonstrate a daily commitment to the continuous improvement process by following Lean Manufacturing concepts and the Basic Principals.
  • Strive to improve each work process.
  • Identify/implement value added and cost savings activities and projects.
  • Must maintain the highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the use of data and confidence in decision making.
  • Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies.
  • Regularly complete behavior-based safety observations.
  • Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Completes safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards.
  • Reports deviations to Supervisor.
  • Participates in mandatory safety trainings and adheres to all safety policies
  • Required to report all safety issues, near misses, and injuries
  • Completes quality & food safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards.
  • Reports deviations to Supervisor.
  • Participates in mandatory food safety and quality training program requirements
  • Preserves the integrity of the BRC system through adherence to the policies and procedures outlined.
  • Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety and quality system deficiencies
  • Required to report food safety and quality system failures and take actions necessary to preserve the BRC system.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
