About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Universal Refrigerant Certification.
• At least five years of experience working in the HVAC trade; the stated minimum job-related experience is 5–7 years.
• General construction or maintenance experience with HVAC, refrigeration, and medical gas systems.
• Excellent written and verbal guest-relations and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and instruction manuals.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, perform mathematical skills, read and write reports, and communicate effectively.
• Computer and software training relevant to Plant Operations and Engineering.
• General knowledge of healthcare-related codes and standards, including NFPA 101, OSHA, other NFPA codes, The Joint Commission requirements, and the Ohio Building Code.
• Working knowledge of a Building Automation System and its components.
• Ability to operate equipment used to install, repair, and maintain HVAC, refrigeration, and medical gas equipment; service and repair DDC controls; and properly handle and dispose of refrigerants.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, communicate with diverse groups, meet deadlines and schedules, work as part of a team and amid interruptions, demonstrate mechanical aptitude, and comply with OSHA regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree.
• Graduation from a technical school or apprenticeship program.
• Hospital maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, preventive maintenance, monitoring, and testing of HVAC, medical gas, and refrigeration equipment.
• Maintain the upkeep, operation, cleanliness, and safety of HVAC, refrigeration, and medical gas equipment associated with hospital infrastructure.
• Ensure The Joint Commission requirements are completed.
• Be available onsite for emergencies, shutdowns, or repairs as requested.
• Participate in department and craft meetings and use correct safety work habits.
• Provide prompt and courteous service and communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
• Plan and manage projects and prepare and maintain accurate records.
