About The Position

The University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business seeks a collaborative, strategic, and forward-thinking senior technology leader to connect technology strategy with the College’s priorities and mission. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director will lead the development and execution of Mendoza’s multi-year technology and digital strategy and advise the Dean, College leadership, faculty, and administrative leaders. The role translates organizational needs into practical technology solutions with measurable impact and helps shape an operating model that integrates Mendoza’s embedded technology team, Notre Dame’s Office of Information Technology (OIT), and external technology partners. The Director oversees technology platforms, applications, digital products, investments, budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships. They guide decisions about whether to build, buy, partner, or use enterprise capabilities, while promoting reliable, innovative, and sustainable services. The role also leads process redesign and technology-enabled change, with attention to adoption, accessibility, cybersecurity, data privacy, and University standards. The Director leads, mentors, and develops Mendoza’s technology professionals and fosters collaboration, accountability, curiosity, professional growth, and exceptional service. This is a fully onsite position in Notre Dame, Indiana. A cover letter is requested for full consideration. Salary is up to $155,000, commensurate with experience. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Management, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible technology experience, including technology leadership, strategic planning, service delivery, or technology-enabled transformation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading professional staff and working directly with senior organizational leaders on complex technology initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of IT governance, portfolio management, service delivery, vendor management, business process analysis, and risk management.
  • Strategic vision combined with practical execution and the ability to build trust across disciplines and thoughtfully navigate competing priorities.
  • Technical fluency and judgment to evaluate solutions and guide informed decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in business, technology, information systems, higher education administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in a decentralized, federated, shared-service, or matrixed technology environment.
  • Technology leadership experience in higher education or a complex mission-driven organization.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence, process automation, digital learning tools, and enterprise architecture in an academic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and champion a multi-year technology and digital strategy aligned with College and University priorities.
  • Advise College leaders on opportunities in artificial intelligence, automation, analytics, digital learning, and other emerging technologies, connecting innovation to academic and operational outcomes.
  • Serve as a trusted technology advisor across academic and administrative units, translating stakeholder needs and organizational challenges into actionable strategies.
  • Strengthen partnerships with OIT and external technology providers, establishing clear responsibilities, service expectations, and governance for shared services.
  • Develop local technology capabilities that support Mendoza’s distinct needs and guide choices to build, buy, partner, or use enterprise capabilities.
  • Oversee Mendoza’s portfolio of technology platforms, applications, and digital products; establish roadmaps and prioritize investments based on strategic value.
  • Evaluate opportunities to modernize legacy systems and manage technology budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships with a focus on value and long-term sustainability.
  • Partner with academic and administrative teams to redesign business processes, simplify experiences, and improve how work gets done before implementing technology solutions.
  • Lead technology-enabled change while addressing adoption, accessibility, cybersecurity, data privacy, and University standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop embedded technology professionals and shape team capabilities and responsibilities to meet evolving College needs.
