About The Position
WBBJ is seeking a Digital Content Producer to create news content across its digital platforms, including the website and social media accounts. The role calls for a journalist with strong writing skills who is innovative, self-starting, able to meet deadlines, comfortable under pressure, and motivated to be first and best with stories. The ideal candidate has a passion for local and national news and excels at writing and creating content for digital platforms. The producer keeps the station’s digital platforms current and refreshed throughout their shift and plays an important role in the station’s breaking news and severe weather strategy. The position also works with other departments on digital projects and supports the Sales Department with web-based ads.
Requirements
- Strong writing skills.
- Passion for local and national news.
- Ability to create content for digital platforms.
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle pressure.

Responsibilities
- Manage the WordPress-based news site and multiple social media accounts.
- Write and publish daily news content, including breaking news.
- Edit digital stories for accuracy, clarity, and professionalism.
- Assist the Sales Department with weekly web-based ads and digital projects.
- Check content for spelling, grammar, factual accuracy, and potential libel issues.
- Collaborate with multiple departments on landing pages and other digital needs.
- Keep the station’s digital platforms up to date and refreshed throughout the shift.
- Contribute to the station’s breaking news and severe weather strategy.
